Bishop Walker School

A Typical Pre-K/Kindergarten Day

This schedule was written with the understanding that 4 and 5 year olds learn best when given the opportunity for hands-on/ experiential learning. They need to touch, smell, hear, and sometime taste the lesson presented to them. They also benefit from the opportunity to work on projects independently and with others. Young children are amazingly curious and eager to learn.

With the gentle guidance of an adult, 4 and 5 year olds will benefit from the freedom to explore their world and make discoveries. This is a tentative schedule, with enough flexibility so that it can be fluid. One day the students may need more time to work on an activity than another. It is also important to remember that this is a long day; therefore the pace of the day should be slow with many opportunities to move about.
