2018 Annual Dinner Highlights

BISHOP WALKER SCHOOL CHORUSBishop Walker School Chorus
Each year at the BWS Annual Dinner, the school’s chorus performs several songs. Led by music teacher and director Herb Scott, the chorus performs a variety of choral music. The Bishop Walker School Chorus has performed in a variety of venues across the Metropolitan Washington, DC area, including Washington National Cathedral, the Washington Winter Show, The Willard Intercontinental Hotel, and many Episcopal parishes.

SUSAN GAGE CATERING
Recently ranked by The Washington Post as the top caterer in the Washington, DC area, Susan Gage Caterers truly provides a level of quality that is unmatched. At the 10th Anniversary Annual Dinner last year, Susan Gage provided a delicious array of cocktails & hors d’oeuvres, dinner & drinks, and a dessert bar & after-dinner coffee, and we are glad to have them join us for the 2019 Annual Dinner bringing some of the best food in DC!

LIVE AUCTION & RAISE THE PADDLE
Raise the PaddleThe Live Auction and Raise the Paddle at the 2018 Annual Dinner were a resounding success! Our generous donors donated a range of incredible gifts to be auctioned, including: a Ranch Vacation in Montana, a Washington Nationals Ticket Package, a Vacation at Half Moon Resort in Jamaica, a Catered Dinner for 8 by Susan Gage Caterers, a Golf and Tennis Getaway at the Tryall Club in Jamaica, and an Evening at a Private Home in The Plains, Virginia with Chef Ris Lacoste. Bidding for all of the auction items was very competitive, and many guests are looking forward with anticipation for the 2019 Annual Dinner Auction. Raise the Paddle was also an extremely popular event at the 2018 Annual Dinner, with nearly a quarter of the event's attendees making a pledge, and we are excited to announce that it will be returning at the 2019 Annual Dinner.

ATTENDANCE & VENUE
2018 was a groundbreaking year for the BWS Annual Dinner! In 2016, and 2017, the Dinner sold out the Willard Grand Ballroom, which has a capacity of approximately 350 seats. To accommodate for the growth of the dinner, Washington National Cathedral graciously allowed us to host our 10th Anniversary in the Nave of the Cathedral. Despite the significantly larger space, the Nave was filled to capacity on the night of the dinner with over 625 tickets sold and a sizable waiting list! Madeleine K. Albright

THE HONORABLE MADELEINE K. ALBRIGHT
The Hon. Madeleine K. Albright served as one of the Honorary Co-Chairs for the BWS 10th Anniversary Annual Dinner. That evening, Secretary Albright spoke of her relationship with John Walker and how his values continue to live today manifested through the Bishop Walker School.
