COVID-19 Response

Update: March 25, 2020

Greetings BWS Family,

First of all, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks for how you have responded to the extraordinary circumstances in which we find ourselves. Your cooperation, flexibility and resourcefulness have been admirable.

In light of the continuing public health crisis and Mayor Bowser’s announcement that all public schools in the city and now, as of March 24, 2020 at 10:00 pm, that all non-essential businesses must remain closed through April 24, 2020, I wanted to confirm for you that we will continue our distance learning program through at least April 24, as well. As you know, the situation remains fluid and we will continue to monitor unfolding developments and keep you informed as things change.

Please remember that next week (March 30 - April 3), we are scheduled to be on spring break. As you are able, please continue to work with your scholar on their math and literacy skills and remember that a healthy dose of daily reading will be both academically beneficial and fun!

I encourage you to continue to stay actively engaged with your scholar’s learning and to remain in close communication with his teacher. We are working to enhance the remote learning experience and will roll out some enhanced services during the week of April 6.

If there is any way that we can be supportive of you and your family during this challenging season, please don’t hesitate to contact your scholar’s teacher, Rev. Tim, or any member of our administrative team. We are committed to your on-going well-being and will continue to distribute information about available community resources as we become aware of them. DCPS has produced an extremely helpful map of available food resources and updates the map each evening: map of these resources, or you can click HERE for other local food resources.

Wishing you continued good health!

In solidarity,
James Signature
